Elizabeth Thomas is the Vice President of Operations and Special Assistant to the CEO at Phase 2 Consulting. In that role, Ms. Thomas oversees the firm’s day-to-day operations, provides wide-ranging, high-level support to the CEO on key internal and external priorities, partners with the CEO to initiate, facilitate, and manage special projects and philanthropic initiatives, and conceptualizes and executes events hosted or sponsored by the firm. She collaborates directly with the Phase 2 team on a variety of initiatives to help innovate and advance new processes, to form and accomplish mutual goals, and to help implement the firm’s events and outreach efforts successfully. Additionally, Ms. Thomas assists the team and its clients with corporate communications, press releases, marketing, government relations, and research.
Prior to joining the Phase 2 team, Ms. Thomas served as Staff Assistant, then Special Assistant and Scheduler, for United States Senator Bill Nelson. In those roles, she served as a liaison between the community and the Senator, working with the Senator’s Regional Directors in the state to plan and develop effective outreach strategies. In his D.C. office, Ms. Thomas acted as an operations point person to ensure the smooth functioning of activities and processes for the Senator’s daily matters. She also collaborated with staff to develop and execute the Senator’s official schedule by arranging meetings, briefings, and events with the Senator and legislative staff.
A native of Tampa, Florida, Ms. Thomas is a University of South Florida alumna. Driven by her desire to engage in public policy impacting community development and sustainability in the Tampa metropolitan area, she was selected to participate in the USF College of Arts and Sciences Community Initiative’s competitive Legislative Internship Program. Through that program and under the direction and leadership of a Tampa City Councilmember, Ms. Thomas gained invaluable insight into the duties and responsibilities of local government and social activism – an experience she deems integral to her role in fulfilling the mission of the Phase 2.
Outside of the office, Ms. Thomas can be found working on creative projects for her home and others and relishing the great outdoors by way of gardening, training with the DC Triathlon Club, and weekend trips to the mountains; however, her very favorite pastime is spending time with her husband and their three mastiffs at their home in Southern Maryland.
