BIOGRAPHY

William “Teddy” McDaniel, III is the Founder and CEO of MCG Ventures, a strategic advisory firm leveraging his deep expertise in civil rights, social justice, corporate and community relations, philanthropy, and financial management. With a distinguished career spanning the nonprofit, higher education, and financial sectors, McDaniel has built a reputation as a transformational leader and mission-driven strategist.

 

From 2023 to 2024, McDaniel served as Senior Advisor to the President of Talladega College, where he played a leading role in advancing fundraising and donor engagement. As a key contributor to the UNCF Advancement Sprint Project, he helped generate $4.7 million through major gifts, grants, and support from over 2,500 donors. He was instrumental in securing two seven-figure gifts and led the successful “Students First! Day of Giving” campaign, which raised $470,000 in unrestricted support.

 

Previously, McDaniel served as President and CEO of the Urban League of Central Carolinas (ULCC) in Charlotte, NC, from 2017 to 2022. Under his leadership, the organization saw significant financial growth, generating more than $10 million in revenue and building operating reserves exceeding $1.2 million. He expanded ULCC’s impact through workforce development, STEM education, entrepreneurship programs, and affordable housing initiatives, reinforcing its mission to drive economic mobility in underserved communities.


McDaniel’s earlier executive roles include President and CEO of the Austin Area Urban League (2012–2017) and COO of the Greater Phoenix Urban League (2009–2012). He was recognized by the National Urban League as its “Newcomer CEO of the Year” in 2014 for his innovative leadership and results-driven approach.
Before transitioning to the nonprofit sector, McDaniel spent over 15 years in financial services. His roles included Assistant Vice President at GE Capital, where he underwrote more than $100 million in commercial and real estate loans, and senior underwriting positions at Franchise Mortgage Acceptance Corp., Banco Popular, and Chase Manhattan Bank. Across these roles, he managed multi-million-dollar portfolios and facilitated complex transactions for national restaurant and hospitality brands.


A proud Atlanta native raised in Columbus, Ohio, McDaniel is a third-generation graduate of Morehouse College, where he earned a B.A. in Finance. He is also a graduate of Leadership Austin (2015) and the American Leadership Forum (2019). McDaniel is an active member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., and Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity.
